Thomas Yates, Jr Birth: Mar. 27, 1798 Murfreesboro Rutherford County Tennessee, USA Death: Dec. 21, 1855 Atlas Lamar County Texas, USA Thomas Jr. and Avis were married in 1816. They had nine children. There are several infants buried in this same cemetery that are probably theirs since it appears to be on the same burial plot. The dates of his death are a little different on the Ancestral File than on the headstone. The files says he was born 03/21/1798 and died 12/12/1855, probably just an error in transcribing. Source: www.familysearch.org Thomas Jr was originally from MO but moved near Paris around 1835. Records reflect that he enlisted on November 13, 1835 and fought with the Volunteer Texas Army that took the Alamo from the Mexicans in the fall of 1835. This battle was known as the Bexar Campaign. "The next record we found was the census of 1790 in Allegheny-Washington Co., Penn. John had two sons under sixteen years and his Wife, Martha. The family left Northumberland Co., Penn, and moved to Kentucky. In the tax list of 1800 we find in Harrison Co., Ky., where the south fork of Licking flows from Bourbon Co. In the tax list of 1807 he was in Bourbon Co. and had three horses. In 1809, Martha Blakeney had three horses and three colts; by this we surmise that John had died and she was the widow. The census of Bourbon Co. in 1810 lists Martha Blakeney as head of household with two sons, one between 10 and 16 years, and another between 16 and 26 years. Martha was under 45 years of age. John T. Blakeney, her son, was also listed as head of household in the 1810 census. This was census was finished in 1811 and he was listed as between 16 and 26 years of age, as was his wife. Also listed was a daughter under 10 years.
John T. Blakeney had one mare on the tax list of 1810. In 1811, two horses were listed. William Blakeney also had two horses in the tax list of 1811. His age was given as 21 years. William was evidently the other son mentioned in the 1790 census in Pennsylvania."

CHILDREN OF DAVID BOYDSTUN AND MEHITABLE SNOW
James, b. September 23, 1747, d. February 6, 1814, md. Mary Prewett, (b. January 21, 1745, d. May 22, 1809). Daughter of a Revolutionary patriot, also.
James married Mary Prewett of Maryland. Was granted 200 acres of land in Rutherford Co., N.C., in 1792, also another grant, the Home Land owned in Kentucky in Logan County, by the same James Boydstun and his wife, Mary Prewett, 400 acres of land was granted from Secretary of State of Kentucky on both sides of the "Big Whip-Poor-Will Creek" by Governor Scott in the County of Logan, in August, 1803. From Logan County, Abstract Company, Russellville, Kentucky.
JAMES AND THOMAS BOYDSTON
William Boydston (sometimes written Boilston or Boylston) was one of the earliest settlers in the County. James Boydston, a Tennessee Revolutionary soldier (McAllister's Virginia Militia in the Revolutionary War, p. 264), was an older brother of William, and seemingly one of the two Boydstons who were in the battle of Point Pleasant, on the Ohio, October 18, 1774. James later moved from what became Cocke County to Rutherford County, North Carolina, where he had a grant of land in 1790. They served in defense of the frontier under Captain Daniel Smith, who was later Secretary of the Southwest Territory (William Blount, governor) and twice elected to the United States Senate from Tennessee. He took part in defending Castlewood, too. Later, Boydston moved to the lower part of Greene County, then North Carolina, that part of which was later Cocke County. Ramsey in his Annals, (page 190), and Williams in his Tennessee During the Revolution, gives an account of an Indian raid, in 1779, on his house, which was evidently fortified, in which four warriors were killed and a number wounded. The forayers were chased out of the settlements by a force under Captain (later Brigadier-General) George Doherty. Boydston served during the early part of the Revolutionary War as a Virginia militiaman, and later as such in the North Carolina (Tennessee part) forces under Colonel John Sevier. His name appeared on the tax list of Greene County in 1783, Greene then covering part of Cocke. A daughter, Priscilla, married Rev. Jacob Faubion, of French Huguenot descent, and they were the progenitors of a large family who lived in or near Old Newport. | Boydston, James (I12964)
